Parboiled rice is the rice that has been partially boiled in the husk. The three basic steps of parboiling are soaking, steaming and drying. These steps also make rice easier to process, boost its nutritional profile (other than its vitamin-B content, which is denatured) and change its texture Barqat Sella Rice (Parboiled rice) is as it suggests parboiled at source with the husk on, resulting in the grain appearing slightly off white in color that is until it is cooked when it turns white. This process guarantees separate grains of rice that are fluffy and remains so when holding.
Because of the special processing, parboiled rice is a better source of fiber, calcium, potassium and vitamin B-6 than regular white rice. Parboiled rice has double the fiber as compared to cooked white rice. Parboiling drives nutrients, especially thiamine, from the bran to endosperm, hence parboiled white rice is 80% nutritionally similar to brown rice.
